Cloud FinOps: turning 400+ accounts of spend into actionable insight
400+ accounts of cloud spend with no consolidated view — costs rising faster than anyone could explain, reports compiled manually, slowly, and infrequently. We built the dashboards that changed that.
Spend consolidated across the full account estate.
In producing the reports leaders relied on.
Recurring monthly savings identified for the client.
The challenge
Spend nobody could fully see
400+ accounts of cloud spend had no consolidated view. Costs were rising faster than anyone could explain, and reports were compiled manually — slowly, and infrequently enough that decisions lagged behind the numbers.
Before
- No consolidated view across 400+ accounts
- Costs rising with no clear explanation
- Reports compiled manually and infrequently
- No predictable cost view for leaders or developers
After
- Dashboards exposing spend across every business unit
- 95% less manual effort producing reports
- Concrete optimisation opportunities surfaced
- Leaders set and tracked savings KPIs directly
How we approached it
Mine the data, publish the view, drive the savings
Mine the cost data
We built a BI pipeline that mines AWS Cost and Usage Report data and transforms and organises it for easy consumption — replacing the slow, manual report-building that came before.
Publish the dashboards
We published a set of Power BI dashboards exploring the key areas of spend, giving senior leaders their KPIs and developers a clear view of the cost their choices drive.
Turn insight into savings
We surfaced concrete levers — reserved versus on-demand instances, optimised EBS storage, Spot for containerised workloads, auto-stopping idle WorkSpaces, and right-tiering S3 storage — adding up to $100K+ a month.
Under the hood
Next step
Cloud spend across many accounts, no one view of the truth?
We consolidate spend into a view your teams can actually act on — not just another report nobody reads.
